The Penguins was the first team to be conceived when the North Ayrshire Ice Hockey Club was formed in 2000. As the first level of competitive hockey it is a good measure of the health of any club, as the players within it will progress through the clubs various teams. In this respect it is encouraging to see the progress and development achieved by every player in the past season and look forward to the progress and achievement that will occur in the next. The aim of any hockey team is to develop speed, agility, coordination, physical conditioning, puck control and team play. However this is only one side of the game the other is the development of emotional strength, confidence, self-determination, respect for others, a positive work ethic and willingness to push the boundaries of ability, but most of all it’s got to be fun.
