The North Ayrshire Penguins |

The
Penguins was the first team to be conceived when the North Ayrshire Ice
Hockey Club was formed in 2000. As the first level of competitive hockey it
is a good measure of the health of any club, as the players within it will
progress through the clubs various teams. In this respect it is encouraging
to see the progress and development achieved by every player in the past
season and look forward to the progress and achievement that will occur in
the next.
The aim of any hockey team is to develop
speed, agility, coordination, physical conditioning, puck control and team
play. However this is only one side of the game the other is the development
of emotional strength, confidence, self-determination, respect for others, a
positive work ethic and willingness to push the boundaries of ability, but
most of all it’s got to be fun.
Since their inaugural game in 2000 the team has made steady progress with a
solid mid table finish in the 2002 / 2003 season. The teams “never say die”
attitude and team spirit earning a string of hard fought victories and
respect wherever they played.
The
season being rounded off by a creditable 5th place finish in the
very competitive Peterborough Tournament.
The
movement of several players to the U14’s team offers the opportunity for the
remaining core of players and rising stars from last years U10’s team to
show off their ability and determination in the season ahead.
Without doubt the 2005 /2006 season will be equally hard fought with the
kids equally determined to showcase their skills and reinforce their role
within the tight knit team called the PENGUINS!!!!!!
