| The Sabres team was formed in 2002 to provide a development team which would allow kids to develop their skills in a fun non-league environment. In the last 5 years the Club have had many players from the Sabres who have progressed through the ranks and achieved great success with some gaining international recognition
The U10s team is in many ways the most important within any club structure. It is where kids develop a passion for ice hockey and where they can master all the fundamental skills of ice hockey in a fun environment out with the pressures of league hockey. This passion and these skills once mastered will remain with these players throughout their playing career and provide a solid foundation on which to develop more complex skills and enable them to compete at every level.
Several players , in their last year with the Sabres, are given the opportunity to 'train up' with the Club's U-12 team on a Thursday night. On occasion throughout the season they may even get the chance to play with the 12's when appropriate. This proves invaluable in giving them a taste of league hockey and getting to mix with their next season teammates. It also gives the coaches the opportunity to work with the players prior to next season which is beneficial to the transitional phase of their development into competitive hockey.
